FREE TO BE A WOMAN

All together against violence

Intesa Sanpaolo Bank Romania has join the awareness campaign run at Group level, dedicated to International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women.

On 25th of November, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women is marked around the world with demonstrations and acts of condemnation of various forms of violence against women.

Intesa Sanpaolo plays an active role in providing real support to women facing economic problems and gender inequality, as well as promoting their self-determination and autonomy.  We are constantly working to identify financial solutions for women in need of support.

Violence against women is one of the most widespread human rights violations in the world. It happens at home, on the street, in schools, at work, in refugee camps, in hospitals. To a greater or lesser extent, it happens in every country in the world, regardless of ethnicity, race, age, background, income or level of education.
The International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women was established by the United Nations General Assembly in 2000 (Resolution No. A/RES/54/134). The date is chosen to commemorate the violent murder of three of the Mirabal sisters, who fiercely opposed the dictatorship of Rafael Trujillo and were killed in the Dominican Republic on 25 November 1960.

In its resolution, the United Nations General Assembly invited governments, United Nations agencies, international and non-governmental organisations to organise events on this day to draw public attention to the problem of violence against women.

Together against all forms of violence against women: physical, verbal, economic... None of this should exist!
